Sik No Kazoku translates to 'family of stars', is based on one of the original samples made with Shiori in the exploration of Ainu symbols. The popular graphic pattern is made into a geometric sea, filled with a spiral like motif and dotted border. Printed with all natural colours and featuring a natural finish, The contemporary approach of block print and dyeing the Kala cotton involves primitive utensils made from wood and using the index finger to create intense markings which fade with movement to create the symbols.
