The Ayusi motif in contrasting resist dyed blocks. The popular graphic pattern which translates to a shape marked with a thorn is made with all natural colours and features a kimono-style form with natural finish. The contemporary approach of block print and dyeing the Kala involves primitive utensils made from wood and using the index finger to create intense markings which fade with movement to create the symbols. A striking and unique work which merges both traditional motifs with a contemporary aesthetic, retaining a closeness with earth tones.
